Top 3 Reasons we moved to Orlando, Florida

There were several reasons that drew us to Central Florida when we moved here in 2008. Josh and I each have our own list, but these are the 3 we can agree on. lol.

#1 - We spent more money on hotels, travel arrangements and rental cars than we would on actually living here.

#2 - The winters in the midwest feel like they last forever and we realized we didn’t see the sun for 6 months of the year.

#3 - It was time for a change for us.

I feel like these are very common reasons why people choose to move every day, but why Central Florida? Because Disney World.

Josh and Jenna grew up with the Disney Parks experience, but I didn’t. It took me a while to understand it. Now I understand that for Josh it feels like home. The sights, sounds, smells and attractions of the theme park are more than a hobby; for many people like Josh, this is a way of life.

The hardest part of always being on vacation to Disney World is you feel like you have to cram it all into a short period of time before you go back to your “real life”. But what if your real life was working (or retiring) and going to Disney for an evening out, special occasions or just because you NEED a dole whip to celebrate something good or a Main Street cookie as a pick-me-up for something less than good. That’s certainly an added bonus of living the Central Florida lifestyle.

There is so much more here to do outside of theme parks. Strawberry Festivals, Fall Harvest Fun, Museums, Malls, State Parks, and many, many local events in the neighboring communities. These community things are the reasons I was interested in starting a blog and a separate YouTube Channel. Because if you are focused on the theme parks, you could miss it - like we did…for years, but if you are interested in moving here, these are the things are add a little more spice to life.

I like the theme park festivals, decorations and experiences, too, but after 54 visits in 50 weeks of the first year we lived here, I was exhausted and overwhelmed thinking that was all there is. It’s not, and if you are thinking about moving to the Orlando area, if’s helpful to hear from someone who’s been there. Whether you are moving across town or across the country, the ResortTV1 family has been there and you shouldn’t have to do it alone. So in this blog, you will find tips for All The Things - packing, moving, researching, buying, selling, investing, things to do, community events and more - for moving to Orlando.

If you have questions, send them my way. I want to know what’s on your mind. If you are asking, you can bet that other people are asking too.
